MANHATTAN, NY / ACCESSWIRE / March 31, 2023 / Shibui Whisky Company received another impressive accolade this week when Shibui Pure Malt 10yr old was awarded 96 points, the highest score given to any Japanese Whisky, at the 2023 International Wines & Spirits Competition (IWSC) - one of only two Japanese whiskies to receive such an honor.

Shibui Pure Malt 10yr old is matured in American Oak Ex-Bourbon and European Oak Oloroso Sherry Casks for 10 years before a final finishing maturation in rare Japanese Mizunara Oak Casks. Like all Shibui whiskies, Pure Malt 10yr is natural color and non-chill filtered.

Tasting notes for Shibui Pure Malt 10yr old from the expert IWSC judges read:

'Gorgeous floral nose of freshly ground barley, honeyed fruitcake and a flutter of sweet spices, then lusciously smooth on the palate: buttery vanilla caramel, rich dates, pear chutney and a building mouth filling texture. Outstanding complexity with a balanced, lengthy finish.'
